Plastering Work, Start To Finish

Seven things Lee does, and he will tell you honestly which one your wall actually needs. Six of them are independently verified skills on the Checkatrade profile.

Why LD Plastering

One Standard, Backed By A Team

Lee Dolan leads a team of plasterers, and Lee quotes and stays across every job personally so the standard is the same whoever is on the tools. 6 years of independently recorded trading, and a Checkatrade profile scoring 10 out of 10 on quality, reliability and communication alike.

Local, not passing through
Lee lives and works in the Rossendale valley. That means quotes in a day or two rather than a fortnight, small jobs that are actually worth doing, and a tradesman who can call back to check a room dried right before you decorate.
The preparation nobody sees
Most plastering that fails, fails at the background. Old paper comes off, surfaces get stabilised and primed to suit what they are, and beads go on at every corner. It is the invisible half of the job and it is where the finish is actually decided.
No mess left behind
Floors and furniture are sheeted before a bag is opened, and the debris and old coverings leave with Lee at the end of the day. Tidy working comes up in the Checkatrade reviews more often than almost anything else.

What Customers Say

Every review below is a verified Checkatrade review left by a real customer against a real job. The profile currently stands at 10 out of 10 from 69 reviews.

Lee gave me a fair price after looking at my photo of the job. He kept in touch and arrived bang on time 2 days later. Very respectful and did a first class job. He also let me know what the job entailed. Tidied up afterwards as well. I would definitely use this company again.

Lee did a great job from start to finish and would definitely recommend, Lee came and quoted within 24hrs of listing the job and by Thursday Lee had finished the job.
Ben KBB105 May 2026
Excellent communication, competitive pricing and excellent work. Left the work area clean and tidy.

Common questions

Things People Ask Before Booking

If what you want to know is not here, ring or send a photo over on WhatsApp and you will get a straight answer.

How much does plastering cost in Lancashire?

Most single rooms land in the low hundreds. What moves the figure is the size of the room, whether ceilings are included, and the state of what is already on the wall. A room that has been patched three times by three different people is more work than one that has not, which is why Lee quotes off a look or a photo rather than a price list.

How long does a full reskim take?

A single room including ceilings is usually one to two days. A three-bedroom house is around two weeks for the plastering itself, plus drying time before decorating. On a whole house you get the room-by-room order at the start so you know which day each space comes back into use.

Which areas does LD Plastering cover?

Rossendale, Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Bacup, Burnley, Blackburn, Accrington, Padiham, Nelson, Colne, Darwen, Oswaldtwistle, Great Harwood, Rishton, Church, Clitheroe and Ramsbottom, plus the villages around them. Lee is based in Rossendale, so the valley and the towns immediately around it get the quickest turnaround.

Are quotes free?

Yes, free and with no obligation. There is no call-out charge for coming to look. For smaller jobs a couple of photos sent over on WhatsApp are usually enough for an honest figure, which saves everybody a trip.

How long has LD Plastering been trading?

Lee has been a verified Checkatrade member since November 2020, which is 6 years of independently recorded trading, with 69 reviews on the profile. The work goes back further than the profile does, but that is the date anybody can check rather than one that is simply claimed.

Can you skim over an artex ceiling?

Usually yes. The peaks come off, the surface is sealed with a bonding primer and it is skimmed flat. Where the coating is thick, badly cracked, or the ceiling above has started to move, overboarding underneath is the honest answer, because a skim is only ever as good as what it is stuck to.

How long before I can paint new plaster?

Four to seven days for a normal room, longer if it is cold or the heating is off. It goes from dark pink to an even pale tone when it is ready. The first coat must be a thinned mist coat, or the porous plaster drinks it unevenly and the paint peels at the edges within a year.

Do I need to move out while the work is done?

No. Nearly every job is done around people living normally in the house. It is worked a room at a time so you only ever lose one room at once, everything gets sheeted before a bag is opened, and the debris goes at the end of the day rather than piling up in your hallway.

Will you tell me if I do not need the work doing?

Yes, and it happens regularly. Where a wall genuinely only needs a patch rather than a full skim, that is what gets recommended. Where a damp patch is coming from a gutter or failed pointing rather than the wall itself, you will be told to fix that first rather than sold a job that hides it for one season.

Can you do the painting as well as the plastering?

Yes, and it removes the usual wait for a decorator to fit you in. It also means the fresh plaster gets its mist coat done properly, which is the step most often skipped when new plaster is painted by someone who has not done it before.
